International Companions for Learning
The International Companions for Learning (ICL) program helps elementary and middle school students learn foreign languages and cultures by connecting them with international college students in Taiwan. This program also helps the international students understand Taiwanese culture better.
Here’s how it works:
Weekly Video Chats: Students talk with each other through video calls every week.
University Involvement: The program is connected with university courses and student clubs, and sometimes with partner schools overseas.
Local Helpers: Each international student is paired with a local student who helps with translation and communication. Together, they interact with an assigned elementary or middle school.
The program runs for one school term, and near the end, there is a meetup where everyone can meet in person, emphasizing the importance of human connection.
